Hospital Units Subspecialties



Epilepsy Unit:
It's a specialized in-patient unit designed to evaluate, diagnose and treat seizures in patients of any age. Staff that are specially trained monitor the patients 24 hours a day. They are people skilled in medical, nursing and technical aspects.
Medicare Defined Swing Bed Unit:
This is for patients that no longer require the level of medical care given in an acute care hospital. Although they still require skilled nursing and therapy before they are able to return home. Often those patient recovering from surgery or joint replacement will reside here.
Psychiatric Unit:
These units treat serious mental disorders. A Psychiatric Unit can care for a patient short term or longer term. A team of health care professionals works together to provide the best possible care for these patients that suffer from mental health issues.
Rehabilitation Unit:
There are different definitions for a Rehabilitation Unit. The Rehabilitate is to restore good health through therapy and education. In social welfare it's the process of rehabilitating. In medical it's the treatment of physical disabilities through massage, electrotherapy or exercises that take place in a rehabilitation unit.
Rehabilitation, Substance Use Disorder Unit:
This medical unit is where the process of medical and psychotherapy treatment for drug dependence takes place. Examples of these drugs that are abused are alcohol, prescription drugs and cocaine. The intent of this rehabilitation is to enable the patient to stop abusing the drug.
